01

Deal with urgent needs

Seek appropriate medical attention and follow the instructions you receive. If the event created an ongoing hazard, contact the appropriate emergency service, property operator, employer, or public authority.

02

Save source records

Keep photographs, report numbers, contact details, messages, receipts, and care documents in their original form. Record where each item came from and avoid adding details that you do not independently remember.

03

Start a dated event log

Note appointments, work restrictions, insurer contacts, and major changes as they occur. Separate facts, such as an appointment date, from estimates or personal impressions.

04

Check the correct legal path

Ask a qualified lawyer which jurisdiction, limitation period, notice rule, and claim system may apply. Claims involving a public entity, workplace, minor, or multiple states may require questions that a generic checklist cannot answer.
