01

Start with the work system

Report the event through the applicable workplace process, seek appropriate care, and keep written restrictions and benefit communications. State workers’ compensation agencies are the official starting point for state program information.

02

Identify possible third parties

A contractor, site controller, driver, vehicle owner, product company, or property occupier may be separate from the employer. Whether another claim exists depends on the facts and governing law.

03

Preserve a wider record

Keep incident and safety reports, company names, contracts you possess, training records, photographs, product identifiers, vehicle details, wage records, medical information, and insurer communications.

04

Ask how the paths connect

Ask which system applies, whether exclusivity or immunity rules matter, who controls key evidence, and how benefits, liens, offsets, or reimbursement could affect any resolution.
